Japanese Common Names for North American Plants

A friend of mine, Yukako Nakamura, is working on a volunteer project for the=

North Cascades National Park in Washington State.  She is translating the=20
captions for the natural history exhibit in the park visitor center into=20
Japanese.  So far, she has been unable to find the correct Japanese common=
=20
names for plant species found in the North Cascades.  Some of the general=20
common names (Tsuga, for example) are fairly obvious, but the specific names=
=20
are more elusive.  Any assistance would be much appreciated.
