About Latin; I have always wondered whether Latin would not be the perfect
language for NLR (in computer parlance, natural language recognition). English
has no grammar (none at all, I assure you. Believe a Frenchman on that), and
this makes parsing a sentence an impossible task for a computer. (I know that
computer scientists "are working on it,", but this means they have not solved
it yet). Now, Latin words have their grammatical function attached to them.
Should not this make it easy to find out where is the verb, the subject, and
the complement, to say nothing of the gerund ? This is a taxonomic discussion
group, but some of you are computer minded people (hi, Jack!) and I am asking
them : would not it be easier for computers to deal with Latin than with
English ?
