Hello,
We need your comments regarding images of type specimens which we are
planning to place online.
We are currently testing the use of flatbed scanners to scan type
specimens in order to create a digital image. Our goal is to make these
digital images available to those who are interested. Naturally, we do
not expect these images to be used for detailed studies (such as a
revision of the genus), but we do feel that these images would be
valuable for people who need to see the general form of a specimen.
With this in mind, we have been using a flatbed scanner to create an
image of a specimen and then save the image in jpg format. We now need
your opinion as to whether the quality of these images is high enough to
make the images useful.
The images can be accessed via the url:

Comments can be made by using the address form included on the page, or
by replying to this message.
Thank you for your help,
shawn landry
