Wanted: Database and Systems Manager

The Malacology Department at the Academy of Natural Sciences of
Philadelphia seeks a database and systems manager.   We house the
country's second largest collection of mollusks, with 13-14
million specimens.  Our collection database currently has 150,000
records of recent mollusks and invertebrate fossils, and is
expected to grow to 500,000 records within ten years.  This
position is distinct from the position of collection manager.
Duties will include:

     programming in Paradox 4.0 or higher versions;
     designing and implementing normalized database structures;
     data capture and database record management;
     administering a Novell network;
     managing a gopher server running LINUX (erato.acnatsci.org);
     designing World Wide Web interfaces;
     electronic image capture;
     producing and marketing sources of information on mollusks
          in both electronic and hardcopy forms.
