Citing a dissertation

The date would be that of the official approval of the dissertation,
meaning by that a completed script that will be defended. Receipt of degree
does not validate or invalidate the information contained. Oftentimes,
such a citation will indicate the year only. However, if there were to be
questions as to priority of a name, more details would be in order.
