On May 30-31, PBS will broadcast nationwide a 2-part program called "In
the Beginning ...The Creationist Controversy". It was produced by WTTW/Chicago
and the segment with yours truly was taped in the vert paleo collection area of
the Field Museum last year. Gould, Eugenie Scott and others make powerful
appearances on the side of reason. The funniest (and also saddest) segment is
the guided tour of the museum at the Institute for Creation Research at San
Diego and the attempt by Duane Gish to explain the creation of the Grand Canyon
in 6 days. The host/writer/interviewer is Randall Balmer, a professor of
religion at Columbia University, who wisely allows the subjects and evidence to
speak for themselves.
