I take it to mean Mr. Applebome used Veronica to search the Net for
"kudzu" and found messages on this and other listserv archives containing
the word - not entirely unreasonable.  Is Mr. Applebome from the NYT?  -
Who cares?  My inclination is to treat him as a guest, regardless.  I've
offered him this from my former secretary, native to North Carolina:

"One of the nicest things about The South is that you can always find
*someone* who just doesn't give a damn."

Anyone who's ever had to deal personally with a kudzu patch can understand
the sentiment perfectly.
