The long-awaited Discussion Draft of the proposed 4th edition of the
International Code of Zoological Nomenclature has at last been issued, together
with explanatory notes on the main changes proposed.
The Commission hopes that many zoologists and others will submit comments and
suggestions on the Draft so that the definitive text of the Code will best suit
the users of scientific names of animals. All comments recveived by 31 May 1996
will be taken into full account by the Editorial Committee before a final draft
is presented to the Commission.
Copies of the Discussion Draft may be obtained from:
The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature
c/o The Natural History Museum
Cromwell Road
London SW7 5BD
U.K.
Those able to pay in sterling or US dollars are asked to send a cheque/check
(payable to "ITZN") for L3 (three pounds) or US$5 (five United States dollars)
to cover costs.
Please note that orders for copies of the Discussion Draft of the Code cannot be
accepted by e-mail (unless anyone out there has worked out how to e-mail a
cheque!), but comments on the Draft or other communication with the ICZN may be
sent to
