Dear Mike,

In your recent message you wrote "I realize that in Botany, the
nomenclature system is worse off than in Zoology...."  Why is this?
I realize that plants do not conform to a simple species concept.
Nevertheless, in practice, the vast majority of plant species are well
defined.  What I would like to know is why are most birds in their own
genus :).
