I was glad to see the citation for Pincker's book come across.  I do think
that the need for names is hard wired.  Australian Aborigines believe that
until the first man named things, they didn't exist.  Also, the oldest
written documents, cuniform tablets from Iraq were lists of the names
of animals (first things first!), at least that is a claim made by a book
the "History of the Ancient World".  No mention as to the gender of the
author of those tablets.

And to think that in 2000 AD, we will finally be done!
