<A news bulletin regarding NBS from the Association of Systematics
<Collections.  [Apologies to non-US receipients]

Please do not apologize to non-US recipients for disseminating news of
programs like the NBS.  This program, and the US government's treatment of
it, may well reflect the future of science funding in many countries.  As
such, it is not only of interest to science workers outside of the US, but
imperative that we be aware of the changes so that we can recognize such
anti-science movements in our own countries, and work to head them off
before they destroy essential programs.

Any who feel that science funding is and always will be a top priority of
their goverment can simply delete the messages until they enter the real
world of "global competitiveness".
