I should have been more specific in my pessimism. My problem with any
type of insect photographs taken through a dissecting stereomicroscope
has been the almost nonexistant depth of field. Features I need to see
for species identification (frons, declivity) are often very 3D. Another
problem even "in person" is adjusting lighting such that surface
sculpturing can been viewed.
