mounting paper

Can please someone explain the difference (in durability) between buffered
and unbuffered mounting paper. I know that the buffered (CaCO3) version will
resist to external acid contamination. On the other hand Herbarium Supply
Company sells the unbuffered version to a considerably higher price
(? higher quality ?)
I will buy a greater stock of paper for a private collection, so price is
not the major problem :-)

TIA, Michael Matus
