Californian counties

1.  Mokelumne River [in San Joaquin Co].  However, Ebbett's Pass is
    in Alpine Co.  Cannot find Hermit Valley.

2.  Sierra: City, County, Valley, Buttes.  All these places were named
    directly or indirectly for thei location in the northern part of the
    Sierra Nevada.  The County [Sierra], was formed from a portion of
    Yuba County.

3.  Big Tree Grove: Calaveras and Santa Cruz Counties.  Yours is mostly
    likely Santa Cruz.

4.  Feather River: runs in Butte and Plumas Counties.
