Re BOGOS. Is this possibly an abbreviation? If so, then it might be
BOGOSLAVA OR BOGOSLOFF, a small island and volcano of Alaska, northwest
of Oonalaska, 1000 ft high, Lat 53 degrees 52 minutes north, 167 degrees,
39 minutes west.
Alternatively, it could be an abbreviation for BOGOSLOVSK, a village of
Russia, in the Ural Mountains, ca 185 miles northeast of Perm.
What is the critter you are peering at? Do these localities fit, or are
they "way out"?
