And on Fri, 7 Dec 1995, Hubert Turner replied:

[Merrian-] Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary (1987) gives "latinize,
-ized, -izing, often cap"
Both forms are thus correct, but British preference seems to be with a
capital "L".
