Ayahuasca: the answers

William S. Burroughs's great novel _Naked Lunch_ is also a font of info
on ayahuasca, in particular the appendix to my edition. Not for weak
stomachs, though. Burroughs also wrote some letters and notes while on
a field expedition to study ayahuasca; they've been published as _The
Yage Letters_ (yage, and there should be an accent over the e but I
haven't figured out how to do that, is another name for ayahuasca). I
haven't read this one yet.
