This is a unique opportunity to join the Royal Botanic
Gardens, Melbourne, in the Research and Herbarium
Division.
You will be required to:
Carry out specialised taxonomic research on selected
groups of plants and provide expert scientific advice.
Prepare written treatments of selected families of
plants for the Flora of Victoria. Be responsible for the
botanical curation of a substantial number of families
or groups of plants and provide authoritative plant
identifications. Co-ordinate the delivery of public
presentations relating to the research activities of the
Herbarium.
To join us you will have:
A degree or post-graduate degree in science, or an
approved diploma with major subjects in science or such
other appropriate qualifications as may be approved.
Research experience in plant taxonomy and recognition
nationally and internationally as an expert in this
field. Experience and demonstrated ability in the
organisation and co-ordination of research programs and
the publication of results. Extensive knowledge of the
flora of Victoria and of herbarium procedures.
Effective communication skills.
