New versions of the DELTA programs for MS-DOS are now available by gopher or
anonymous ftp from the following Internet hosts.
huh.harvard.edu (directory: /pub/software/delta/msdos)
life.anu.edu.au (directory: /pub/biodiversity/delta/msdos)
spider.ento.csiro.au (directory: /delta/msdos)
The Internet distribution package consists of text files *.1st and
self-expanding files *.exe. Download.1st contains this information about
downloading the files, changes.1st contains the revision history of the
programs, and delta.1st describes the procedure for installing the programs on
an MS-DOS computer. The files must be transmitted in binary mode, set by the
ftp command `binary'. (Failure to do so will result in the error message
`HeaderC Error' when the .exe files are run.)
Place the files in the directory C:\DELTA on your MS-DOS computer. Then follow
the installation procedure described in delta.1st, but omit the XCOPY command.
The date of this release is 14 June 1994. The changes from the previous
release (16 May 1994) are as follows.
DOCUMENTATION
14 June 1994. The file DOC.1ST has been replaced by a command DOCLIST (which
displays an index to the documentation), and a `help' option in DOCPRINT.
CLASS.1ST has been renamed CLASS.DOC. The draft TYPSET manual is now available
through DOCPRINT, but only for PostScript printers.
CONFOR
Version 2.13, 14 June 1994. The program now places the information about
character images in the ICHARS file. (This change was accidentally included in
the previous release, with the result that INTKEY could not access the
character images in newly created files.) A bug sometimes causing incorrect
translation of attributes of 1-state characters was fixed.
INTKEY
Version 3.12, 14 June 1994. The program now reads the new data-file formats
produced by CONFOR V2.13 (as well as the old formats). The default character
keyword for DIFFERENCES and SIMILARITIES was changed from AVAILABLE to ALL.
Exclusion of all characters or taxa is disallowed. Reusing a character within
an input file does not require confirmation by the user.
