                     MUSEUM INFORMATlCS SPECIALIST


The Museum Informatics Project invites applications for a state-funded
position at the level Programmer/Analyst IV with a specialty in biological
museum information systems. The successful candidate will work closely with
faculty and collections staff, campus and external professional committees
and workshops, and collaboratively with project leaders and staff at other
institutions, to design and implement collections information systems with
an emphasis on botanical, zoological, and paleontological collections. In
this context, the successful candidate will:

o develop information technology infrastructure requirements
o provide project planning, management, and systems analysis
o draft strategic campus and individual collection information system plans
o identify and evaluate computing industry trends related to museum informatics
o participate in professional fora to create opportunities to effect change,
locally and internationally, in museum informatics systems and practices
o seek funding opportunities and draft information systems grant proposals
