Dear Colleague in Ecological and Evolutionary Biology:
In an effort to promote communication between program staff at
the National Science Foundation in the Division of Environmental
Biology and the members of the many societies relevant to the work
we support, our Division Director Dr. James Gosz has appointed each
program director as liaison with particular societies. This
individual will expedite exchange of information and advice. From
you and your colleagues we hope to learn about scientific trends
and opportunities in ecology and evolutionary biology, about
training issues and other personnel matters, about people
interested in serving as visiting program directors or panelists or
reviewers, and about any other matters that you think important for
us to know. In turn, we can provide information about programs at
NSF, target dates and deadlines, general guidance in proposal
preparation, copies of award lists for recent years and of our
annual reports, and rosters of program officers and telephone
numbers and e-mail addresses at our new Arlington, VA home.
