                           ASSISTANT CURATOR

   The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology, Michigan State University,
invites applications for a permanent position as Assistant Curator of the
Michigan State University Herbarium.  The successful candidate will be
expected to assist the Director in maintaining an active exchange program,
updating records, incorporating into a database existing and new collections,
overseeing routine operations of the Herbarium, and coordinating a volunteer
network. Minimum requirements include a degree in botany or plant systematics
involving monographic or floristic experience with tropical plants.  A
familiarity with the flora, botanical literature, and geography of the
