I appreciate the tenor of Jim Croft's message but, without rules
and well-defined procedures we are faced with chaos.  I am always
amused by the feeling that we should just dispense with arcane
policies, rules, etc.  After all, we all know what's what (do I
sounf like Ross Perot yet?) and we don't need someone (e.g. Robert's
Rules) telling us how to conduct our business.

Back to the point: Forman and Bridson (1989; The Herbarium
Handbook) provide definitions of aff. and cf. that, as I read them,
are consistent with my usage of these terms (see previous note).
