Assistant Professor of Biology
The Department of Biology at the University of New Mexico is seeking applicants
for a full-time, tenure-track position as assistant professor, to begin August
15, 1994, in one of the two following areas:
* PLANT MORPHOLOGY/DEVELOPMENT. We seek candidates who are asking questions in
plant evolution or ecology using techniques from structural botany and/or
plant development.
* PHYLOGENETIC RECONSTRUCTION. We seek candidates who are studying the
theoretical basis of phylogenetic reconstruction using molecular and/or
other kinds of data, and the application of phylogenetic reconstructions to
basic questions in systematics, evolution, biogeography, or adaptation. We
welcome applicants working on any kind of organism.
Minimum requirement: Ph.D. in related field. Preferred characteristics:
Postdoctoral experience; potential for developing a vigorous, independent
research program as reflected in publications and other scholarly activities;
and commitment to excellent teaching at the beginning undergraduate through
graduate levels.
