Plant species images

The Biodiversity and Biological Collections Gopher now includes an archive
of plant images in the GIF file format.  There are 188 images in this first
set, of plants belonging to the Convolvulaceae, the morning glory family.

Also available is a keyword-searchable catalog of descriptive information
about each of the images, including the plant species name, the local where
the plant was photographed (primarily Mexico and the southwestern US), and
the photographer/collector's name.

We would be grateful for comments on the utility of the images for viewing
and printing.  Any PC or Macintosh GIF viewer program should display the
images which are 75 dpi and 8 bits/pixel, once they are obtained through a
Gopher client.
