widest possible audience of museum folk...)

The California Academy of Sciences is examining a wide range of options
for the long-term care of its natural history collections. In planning
for what we believe will be an accelerated rate of growth over the next 3
decades, we are considering the question of on-site versus off-site
storage of specimens. Do you know of examples where off-site storage has
been successful or has failed? Do you know of a model system for the
long-term care and accessibility of natural history collections? Your
comments will help us shape our planning with regard to collection space.
Thanks.
