The "Electronic Discussion Lists" note from ASPT Newsletter.

A number of "LISTS" for discussion of biological issues
have been set up using BITNET's LISTSERV software. Anyone using
BITNET or the Internet can join a list.

The first example will illustrate the syntax for subscribing to a
list. For the remaining lists, only the LISTSERV address will be
given. The same syntax should be used for all of the lists.

1. CONSLINK. An electronic conference and bulletin board to
improve communication between individuals and institutions around
the world who are interested in the general topic of biological
conservation. Moderated by Michael Stuewe.

To subscribe, send the message SUB CONSLINK Yourfirst
Lastname to LISTSERV at SIVM.BITNET (or LISTSERV at SIVM.SI.EDU).

2. TAXACOM. A forum for discussion of collections-related
research and computerization. Carries announcements of
network-accessible biological databases and handles queries from
list participants in the general area of systematics collections
and research. Moderated by James H. Beach. (SUB TAXACOM ...
LISTSERV at HARVARDA.HARVARD.EDU or LISTSERV at HARVARDA.BITNET).

3. BIODIV-L. A forum for the discussion of technical
opportunities, administrative and economic issues, practical
limitations and scientific goals, leading to recommendations for
the establishment of a biodiversity network. (SUB BIODIV-L ...
LISTSERV at BDT.FTPT.ANSP.BR

4. IOPI. A list for the International Organization for Plant
Information moderated by Catherine Zellweger (SUB IOPI ...
LISTSERV at LIFE.ANU.EDU.AU).

5. COMPLEX. A list for the discussion of complex systems,
moderated by David Green. Topics will include artificial life,
cellular automata, chaos, criticality, fractals, non-linear
dynamics, neural networks, etc. (SUB COMPLEX ...
LISTSERV at ANU.EDU.AU).

6. POLPAL-L. A list devoted pollination and palynology.
Organized by Peter Kevan. (SUB POLPAL-L ...
LISTSERV at UOGUELPH.CA).

7. PLANT-TAXONOMY. A UK-based plant taxonomy e-mail list. This
list is set up in the MAILBASE system rather than LISTSERV so the
subscription message is different. To join, send the message
JOIN PLANT-TAXONOMY Yourfirst Lastname to
MAILBASE at MAILBASE.AC.UK.
