Announcing a new gopher server:
The Chlamydomonas Genetics Center is an NSF-sponsored project that
serves as a central repository to receive, catalogue, preserve and
distribute stocks of nuclear and chloroplast mutants of the green alga
Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and other Chlamydomonas species in which
extensive genetic analysis has been done. The Center also maintains and
distributes genomic and cDNA clones of Chlamydomonas nuclear,
chloroplast and mitochondrial genes, and maintains an extensive database
of information on Chlamydomonas and related algae.
Selected files from this database are now accessible by gopher.
This server can be accessed through the Duke University
Computer ASSIST Center Gopher.
For a direct link, here is the pointer information:
Name=Duke University Computer ASSIST Center
Type=1
Port=70
Path=

If you are not running a gopher server, you can connect by pointing your
gopher client to gopher.duke.edu, port 70. If you do not have access to a
gopher client, gopher client and server software is available via anonymous
ftp from boombox.micro.umn.edu in the directory /pub/gopher. You can
telnet to a gopher client on gopher.duke.edu by logging in as "gopher" with
the password "gopher".
The following files are included:
A description of the Chlamydomonas Genetics Center
Catalogue of Chlamydomonas strains available from the Center
List of plasmids available from the Genetics Center
List of genes that have been sequenced from Chlamydomonas species
Recent literature citations
Addresses of colleagues
Nuclear genetic maps, in postscript and Macintosh bin-hex formats
Chloroplast and mitochondrial genetic/physical maps, same formats
