Subject: [ARETE] Thanks from Downtown<br><br><div class="ydp4f36ad3ayahoo-style-wrap" style="font-family:arial;font-size:16px;">
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;">Dear Friends</div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;">On behalf of Rich Kimball
and the rest of the Downtown crew, I'd like to thank all of the SLA
members who appeared on the show--either for my Sports Lit 101
segment--or another segment. The success of the show as by design
the guests. We never sought to be talking heads spewing hot takes.
So thank you all.</div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;"><br></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;">Also, every interview is
archived and as we will remerge in some form there is no need to
worry about the audio of your appearances disappearing. All 3302
shows are fully archived.</div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;"><br></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;">Yesterday's "Last Rites for
Downtown on WZON" show was affected by a server crash. (Windows
decided to do an update at about 4:20 and that crashed us for more
than 40 minutes.)</div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;"><br></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;"> For those who'd like
to hear that final show--and man we had fun--I will be sending a
link to the entire show in a few days thanks to the work of our
producer Carey Haskell who was sprinting between the on air studio
and the control room while we carried on. So glad he will still be
with the company--The FM Rock Signal WKIT--was sold a a bargain by
the Kings to two local businessmen--one a former HS student of
mine--so that station will stay on the air. Carey usually works
remotely from New Orleans but drove up for the last few days.</div>

trouble navigating the archives feel free to reach out to me.</div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;"><br></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;">Below is a brief excerpt
from a note from friend of the show, Ed Spencer who helped us with
airport and bus pickups and drop offs last June that sums up the
SLA/Downtown Synergy.</div>

Thanks again so much for the invite to the Sports Literature
banquet. I got to ask Bob Ryan about Bill Bradley after Hank stole
my question about Bill Walton. Walton was my left coast brother; we
both played on NCAA champions in 1972. I have a copy of his Back
from the Dead if you have not had the
pleasure.</span></span><br></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="font-size:16px;"><span><span style="letter-spacing:normal;color:rgb(27,27,27);font-family:'-apple-system-font';font-size:18px;">
<br></span></span></div>
<div dir="ltr"><span style="font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;letter-spacing:-.32px;">
<font size="4" style="background-color:inherit;"> Who was the
author reciting the poem that juxtaposed the Mantle/Maris home run
race with the Kennedy assassination and ended with something like
"....the dying gasps of the Confederacy."? He had us just about in
tears, thru the radio. And a dream session for us Religious Studies
majors would include our fellow academics Steve Martin and Phil
Jackson. </font></span><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="letter-spacing:normal;color:rgb(27,27,27);font-family:'-apple-system-font';font-size:18px;"><br></span></span></div>
