One issue of *Eye to the Telescope*, which I edited a couple of years ago,
dealt with science fiction/fantasy/speculative takes on sports and games

If you're open to speculative short stories, "Arthur Sternbach Brings the
Curveball to Mars" might be of interest. Written by Kim Stanley Robinson,
it first appeared in Asimov's Science Fiction in 1999; however I ran across
it in one of his Mars Trilogy collections. Here's a link to the story
