Hi, folks--
For years I have taught similar course to those proposed by Profs Smalley and Hazucha, counting for the gen ed lit requirement at Stonehill. I will include my readings from this semester below.
Let me put a rec in up front for Quan Barry's recent novel We Ride Upon Sticks -- just a wonderful and smart novel that teaches really well.
All best wishes,
Matt Borushko

This list-serve partially exists for us to share our ideas and interests regarding sports literature, so I would encourage all to share their suggestions with the list group as a whole.

Hi Andy and Matthew and the SLA,
I'm new to the SLA, but I've been teaching Sports Literature for almost a decade. I've taught it as Sports Literature, as Women, Sport, and the Body, and as Sport and Social Justice. I'm happy to share my syllabi with Andy and Matthew and / or with everyone, if more folks want to take a look.
Best,
Liz Wilkinson

Hello, all,
I, too, am in the same situation as my fellow Kansan; I'll be teaching a gen ed course in Sports Literature for the first time in Fall 2021. If you wouldn't mind including me on your missives to Matthew Smalley (and Matthew, if that's okay with you), I'd love to receive any suggestions from the crowd.

Subject: Text Suggestions?
Hello, All—
I wanted to try a bit of crowdsourcing as I’m designing a new gen. ed. level class in Sport & Literature. Though I’ve been delighted to participate in a SLA conference and have subscribed to Aethlon for 4-5 years, this is my first time teaching a class devoted to our topic. I’ve been looking into past issues of Aethlon for a few extra titles (novels, short stories, or poems) worth considering. If you have experience teaching classes on Sport & Lit (or just an idea for a text or two), I’d be delighted to hear any suggestions. Any suggestions are truly welcome, and I’d be particularly interested in suggestions of texts involving women’s sports. Please respond ‘off list’ (i.e. directly to me at mrsmalley3 at fhsu.edu<mailto:mrsmalley3 at fhsu.edu>). Thanks in advance!
Onward,
MS
