Hi Vicki! It is so nice to hear from you! I have been teaching my MAT students Possible Selves as many of them work in diverse districts in the Metro East/St Louis area. I am working with a group of MAT students though who teach in the more rural areas of Southern
Illinois. They found it hard to relate to Lesson 1 and the fears they relate. Also, relating to Tamara was difficult as access beyond small communities would be hard for them. I had one student adapt the lessons for her students who have low incidence disabilities
to adapt vocabulary and expectations for their IEPS in the transition section. I just remembered that there were different books for the daily lessons in Xtreme/Fusion than Brother in Arms.

classroom management. The principal asked me if I had any ideas which would help. I suggested Possible Selves, and we began intense collaboration. It was amazing the way the students responded! I remember that one student wanted to become a chef, so Alicia
and I suggested that he prepare one new dinner entree for his family each week. We designed an additional sheet besides the ones in the manual because he believed he needed help with organization. It contained an area for the recipe as well as the steps
and prices of the ingredients. We also gave him a sheet for feedback from those he served.

This student also shared a snack item with the class and reported the preparation process. I suggested to Alicia that we contact a chef in Des Moines (less than an hour away) and invite him to be a guest
speaker. He declined the invitation, but offered to talk with this student if he could come to his restaurant. I believe that did happen. This student seemed to mature, and his behavior in class drastically improved.

to ask good questions. The best result for Alicia was much improved classroom behavior as well as better engagement in other areas of instruction. I observed the development of mutual respect during my visits. Possible Selves provides the opportunities for
teachers to know students as individuals, and the students appreciate the interest and help given by the teacher.
