<div>Hi all! I hope you are staying healthy! We’re beginning to see some research on the results of the remote learning that took place this past spring. Many folks are saying that it was a colossal failure, and student achievement has severely suffered.
The research data seem to be backing that up. (Below is a link to an article about emerging research.) </div>

<div>Not surprisingly, journal editors are asking me for research that shows that remote learning works! Unfortunately, we don’t have any, because we haven’t done any remote learning research with our SIM programs. This is certainly a huge opportunity for
people who need research projects and people who want to write grants! Please let me know if you’d like to discuss ideas for future research. </div>

<div>Regardless of the negative results that are emerging, we are expecting that many schools will continue with remote learning in the fall. Don Deshler and I believe that remote learning can work under the right conditions and with the right instruction and
materials. As a result, we created some digital versions of some of our books to facilitate remote learning of the strategies. Within each version, which is stored on a flash drive, each pdf page is in a separate file so that the teacher can send it out to
students to complete and return. Students can use the tools on their computers to respond on the pages. We encourage you to provide some workshops this summer and fall to help teachers learn how to teach the strategies while using these materials.</div>
