[Simtrainer-l] Need for SIM

FYI, in July/August 2019 there was a special issue of Teaching Exceptional Children on the topic of Practice/Studying that brings up the same points that Dan does. As always, he writes clearly and concisely on his topics.

Anyway, ours may be helpful if this is something of interest. Some of content in TEC is presented more concisely in the CEC HLP book (both editions) in the Chapter entitled, “Use Explicit Instruction.”

I became interested in this topic in the mid-eighties when I started working with Don and Jean and got re-hooked on the topic when writing the Practice Chapter of the Explicit Instruction with Anita. Read a lot of the cognitive science literature because they really did most of the applied cognitive research. Our second edition will include a lot of what we learned over the last 10 years. Fascinating topic

But I go on…. Hope it is of some help.

Charlie

Thanks for sharing, Beth! This is a very informative article. It is easy to understand and connects to SIM in an important way. Jean

Good morning.
Daniel Willingham's piece is a good endorsement for introducing and teaching teachers to use SIM.
