Hi all, I just want to remind you all that this is the time to be working with school administrators to set up new Xtreme Reading Programs in the fall of 2021. They will be looking for a program that will help students fill the gap between poor reading skills and the demands of their curricula. Many, many students have fallen behind in reading skills because of the pandemic. Administrators will need you to counsel them about setting up their budgets to cover the teachers and materials for the program. Teachers will need to be assigned to the program. Live workshops or remote workshops will need to be scheduled for the summer, and professional developers will need to be engaged. Classrooms will need to be assigned and set up. There's lots to be done, and time is of the essence! If you have any questions about Xtreme Reading, please don't hesitate to contact me (jschumak at ku.edu) or Jocelyn Washburn (jwashburn at ku.edu) at the CRL. Thanks for ALL you are doing to help teachers and students through this difficult time. Jean
