[Simtrainer-l] Scope & Sequence of Writing Strategies for K - 12

Attached are the modified learning sheets.  We asked teachers to give us feedback on the Fundamentals of Sentence Writing as well as Paragraph Writing, so we used their suggestions.  Kathy Briggs and I only modified the A and B of each lesson, since that is what the school copies for every teacher.  If teachers need C or more, we would create more.
We've asked 1st grade teachers to teach the 5 requirements, about verbs, and subjects and linking verbs.  They do not, however, teach 1st graders the PENS steps.  These are the first 5 learning sheets.  These learning sheets are used again for the 2nd graders, as a review.  The learning sheets for the 1st graders were created in landscape format so students had more room to write. : )

Paragraph writing modifications were made for 2nd grade as well.  They only teach Specific and Clueing Topic sentences with greater scaffolding.

I don't believe we have modified the Detail or Clincher sentence learning sheets yet.  When we/I do, we will be sure to share with the Simtrainer group.

Hi Everyone…
I am sure that many of you have dealt with spreading the writing strategies across a district.  I am in a district this year where the configuration of the schools have changed, and 5th & 6th grade teachers have brought into our SIM work.  They are especially interested in pushing Sentence Writing down into elementary.

Instead of reinventing something that I am sure several of you have already done, would anyone be willing to share?  At what grades have you started Fundamentals of Sentence Writing?  I’m curious what you have found when you work with younger children on FSW.
