[Simtrainer-l] word mapping vs. word id question

Hello everyone! I hope back to school is going well for you. I am teaching
4th grade this year and one thing that our district (and especially our
principal) has asked us to focus on is vocabulary. I was originally going
to do Word Mapping because their end of year tests include identifying word
meaning from a single word rather than a passage with context clues. This
is where they really struggle, and I liked the idea of teaching them the
definitions of prefixes, suffixes, and roots.

I have only ever taught Word Mapping with high schoolers. Does anyone have
any experience teaching it to elementary students? I've done Word ID before
too, but it's missing that piece they'll need in May. Thanks for your help.
