Well, the middle schoolers with LD earned a mean score of 78% on the final posttest, and the high schoolers with LD earned a mean score of 81% on the posttest. (They only took the posttest one time.) All the students with LD earned a mean score of about 21% on the pretests. Normal achievers earned a mean score of 28%. Thus, I'd shoot for above 60-70% on the final posttest. All the mastery criteria for individual lessons are either built into the program where the computer does the scoring, or the kids are required to get 100% correct on the Say It ( Verbal Practice) Quizzes and on writing their own sentences. I recommend sticking with all those criteria. Jean

Subject: [Simtrainer-l] Punctuation Strategies CD

Good Morning PDers,

I am doing a PD on the Punctuation CD for our CAL-SIM Conference Saturday.

As we all know, in the introduction to most of the SIM strategies, there is the "Selecting Students for the Strategy". I do not see that in the Instructors Guide for the Punctuation Program (maybe I missed it).

I notice there is a Pretest and Posttest available, but I can not find any information on a recommended mastery level students need to reach, that might suggest they use the Punctuation Program.

Does anyone have any suggestions, input or experience you can give me to pass on to the teachers?

Thanks for your time.

Beth
