Hi everyone,
In a couple of weeks, I’m doing a keynote in Bogota to international school educators from all over South & Central America. The topic is “Interventions for Struggling Learners” and essentially, what has been requested is an hour-long preview on various specific interventions that cover the gamut of students’ needs (reading, writing, social skills, learning strategies, self-determination, etc.). SIM will be extensively, but not exclusively, featured. Thus, I’m looking for PPT slides that can be used to introduce the audience to a range of interventions. These slides need to address the ‘gist’ of a specific intervention, as well as briefly illustrate key components.
For example, for the Fundamentals of Paraphrasing, I plan to show how the intervention works by illustrating the how the paraphrasing skills are developmentally scaffolded (e.g., paraphrasing titles, phrases, short sentences, short paragraphs, etc. Similarly, for Sentence Writing, I plan to show how the skills are developmental scaffolded via sentence types (e.g., Simple —> Compound —> Complex, etc.).
Thus, I am seeking copies of PPT slides (NOT entire presentations used when providing comprehensive PD) that can be used strictly for giving the audience the essence of what a given intervention is designed to do and how. Put another way, I need “quickie overviews” of the following:
SLANT
The Socially Wise Strategy
Taking Notes Together
Strategic Tutoring
Teamwork Strategy
SCORE Skills: Social Skills for Cooperative Groups
Self-advocacy Strategy
Possible Selves
The Self-questioning Strategy
Word Identification Strategy
The Inference Strategy
Paragraph Writing Strategy
Theme Writing Strategy
SMARTER Planning
Course Organizer Routine
Unit Organizer Routine
Question Exploration Routine
Please send me anything you think will be helpful. Thanks, Ed Ellis
