Hi everyone. This note is particularly for SIM network friends and colleagues who are university/college professors or instructors.
I am pleased to announce the release of my new book, People with Disabilities: Face to Face. Previously, I found that books geared for the typical "intro to SPED/exceptional children" course (or some course title like that) were not well-matched to the broad range of students that were enrolling in my courses (e.g, social work, family life, counseling and other majors). So, I wrote one myself with the inspiration of lots of people with disabilities and the collaboration of a few colleagues (including Rebecca Shankland in the SIM network). The book is published by Cognella and there is an e-version with active URLs to youtube videos that really draw the attention of so many millennials in my classes. The book includes chapters on topics that you don't typically find in other "intro" texts on disabilities: people with disabilities in the justice system, aging and health care for people with disabilities. I have attached the front and back cover for your reference. The back cover includes additional description of the book. Again, I wrote it for undergrad intro classes, but it is also appropriate for a lateral entry intro course. Let me know if you have any questions, or need help getting a review copy.
best regards,
Dan
