Hi,
I am responding to Gina's question with David Scanlon's response a few years ago. I hope you will find it helpful.
Hello David,
I have a question about the ORDER routine. Do you have a checklist that teachers could apply when checking their use of the routine?
Thank you,
Patty
>From David Scanlon:
The best checklists are the ones right in the manual, they focus on both the critical steps and the important content.
Here are a few things that Don, Jean, and I learned along the way, and I can say they've been well received by teachers I've worked with since those days. Teachers are very likely (and, therefore, their students) to want to skip the Assign Markers step. Remind them that this is a BAD idea for students who have memory difficulties and/or are not organized thinkers. It is easy to leave out something important once you begin to draw. Also, we believe that it is very important for students to write the vocabulary terms, so some pictures are OK, but really they should be writing words on their organizers. And, it takes practices for some to fit an organizer on to a page, so don't worry if they run out of space and have to continue on the other side, lower down on the page, etc.

I have one for the Framing Routine that would be easily adaptable, so let me know if you'd like a copy.

Hello Everyone,
Has anyone tried to use an implementation checklist for the ORDER routine? If you have one, I'd be very appreciative if you could send it to gina.alligood at esc13.txed.net<mailto:gina.alligood at esc13.txed.net>.
