We use the Swivl as well in teacher observations. It is a wonderful too for immediate feedback between supervisor and candidate.

Thanks for the question, Cathy. Helen, thank you for the suggestion! It's something I've been looking into myself, so this is very timely and having your insight on its "use-ability" is so helpful.

Many thanks,
Nanette

Cathy,

We have had a lot of success using the device called the Swivl C Series Robot@ http://www.swivl.com/ (@ $375.00)
You can put an iPad or a phone on the device and the teacher wears a wireless mic so the audio is clear. The device rotates to follow the mic, so the teacher can move around the room and it follows her. It is unobtrusive, so students don’t even notice it’s on after the first time it’s used.
The videos can then be uploaded to the Swivel cloud (For a membership cost) and emailed the link for review & dialogue for coaching.

Check it out, there’s a quick demo on the link.

Hello All,

If you have engaged in video coaching with teachers, could you share with me what equipment you use for video recording.

I understand there are wireless systems that can be synced to a phone or tablet that allow the recording device to move freely capturing all teacher movements in the classroom.

And there are also basic stands for your phone or tablet that allow for hands free recording.

Not sure if there is something in between these two options that is affordable.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Best,
cathy
