Hello,

Rick Ginsberg, Dean of the School of Education & Human Services, is sponsoring a mini-Wheat State Tour for the School. He has some seats available on the bus and has graciously reached out to see if there is anyone from the College who might be interested in joining their tour. The School of Education will cover the cost for participants.

Below is the invitation from Dean Ginsberg with information about the trip and how to register.

Take Care,

John

-----------------------------

This year we are hosting what we are calling a mini-Wheat State Tour built upon something KU used to do for new employees years ago. We get about 50 people on a big air conditioned touring bus and visit landmarks and interesting sites in KS. It is scheduled for May 31st, from about 8:30AM to 5:00-5:30PM.

Here is the good news. We have about 20 spaces open, and I am willing to cover the cost if you have faculty/staff (new or those who’ve been around a while, any new Deans or others who might be interested) that you think might enjoy seeing and learning more about interesting stuff in Kansas. There will be snacks, lunch provided, guides, and a chance to meet colleagues from across campus. It really is a great trip and should be a fund day.

The specific plans for the day include:

  * Leave JRP at 8:30AM – air-conditioned Tour Bus (drinks, snacks and tour guide!!)
  * Visit the Brown v. Board of Topeka, KS Museum
  * Go to Council Grove, visit sites and have lunch at the historic Hays House
  * Go to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve – short talk, hiking trails, visit museum, house and barn
  *   Visit Cottonwood Falls
  *   Return to JRP – approximately 5:00-5:30PM

Please let us know if you have people who are interested, and have them contact us as soon as possible - contacting Belinda Reynolds – belindar at ku.edu<mailto:belindar at ku.edu>
