So, we have not put out the next newsletter yet this week - Tyler will be training the incoming student hourlies about doing that on Monday.     I do want to give you a heads up about events about Brazil in the message below, which include Dr. Reich and also GTA Gabriel Castro, and also we have alum, Pedro dos Santos here meeting with grad students Wednesday at 4pm for pizza, and speaking Thursday, 3pm, April 20, 114 Blake Hall, also about Brazil "Non-Viable Candidacies, Party Manuevering, and Women's (Under) Representation in Brazil.

A eventful week as we about wind up the semester, of course, Dr. Wenzel visiting also Monday & Tuesday.   Best, Linda  (see below)

More than 60,000 workers have been officially released from modern slavery by the Brazilian government since 1995. Many inadvertently contributed to climate change, such as deforestation of Amazon rainforest. Sakamoto demonstrates how the world is linked to slave labour through consumption. Sakamoto is the President of Repórter Brasil, one of the most important organizations fighting contemporary slave labor & human trafficking in Brazil. He is a journalist, political scientist, and Professor of Journalism at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP).
