My name is Maura Bagstad and I am a senior in the Environmental Studies department. For our Capstone project, several peers and I are creating a website that students can use to access courses including climate change education. We hope that students within the EVRN department and students across the university can use this website to learn more about how the climate crisis will affect their field of interest. Before we can create this website however, we must collect current data on the classes being offered at KU regarding climate change, environmental justice, sustainability, etc. Attached to this email is a survey we are asking all faculty and staff to fill out if they teach or have taught a class including climate pedagogy. This survey will take no more than 5 minutes of your time and will allow us to compile a detailed database to act as a backbone for our website. If possible, we ask that this email be forwarded to the department’s faculty and staff or point me in the direction of someone who can do so. This template was created by students in the Capstone class for Environmental Studies Seniors in order to collect information about classes that are climate related, regardless of discipline. The purpose of this project is to compile a list of all climate related courses as a part of a website for students to find relevant classes. This way current and incoming students have a place to find frequently sought-after information about classes and professors throughout the university who teach classes focused on climate issues even if they technically specialize in a different field. This webpage will promote classes that may not typically be suggested for environmental studies students as they are not traditional EVRN courses but are equally as valuable. The goal is to diversify students' options when it comes to choosing classes that support their learning curriculum as well as their personal interests!
