Important message from Associate Dean, Ben Eggleston:
Dear colleagues,
As you know, Professor Don Haider-Markel will be completing his current term as chair of the Department of Political Science on June 30, 2021, and here in the College Dean’s Office we are conducting a search for the determination of the chairperson position effective July 1, 2021. The purpose of this communication is to invite your application for this position. To access details of the position and instructions for applying, please see the following link:
http://www.employment.ku.edu/academic/17998BR
Please note that the application deadline is November 2. The Dean’s Office can only consider candidates who submit application materials through the Human Resource Management computer system; we are not able to consider candidates who only submit materials directly to the departmental search committee.
Also, please note that as of my writing of this message, the text of the web page linked above includes the line “INTERNAL TO KU FACULTY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE ONLY.” I have asked that this be changed to “INTERNAL TO KU FACULTY IN THE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS & SCIENCES ONLY,” to be consistent with the way the required qualifications are stated earlier in the text. Preferred qualification no. 2, “Appointment in the Department of Political Science,” will remain as stated.
After November 2, the departmental search committee will be provided with the applications that have been submitted, evaluate the applicants, and provide a report to me, which I will then share with Interim Dean John Colombo. I would suggest that, if possible, the departmental report be sent to me no later than December 2. Then I will consult with Dean Colombo about moving forward here in our office, with the goal of having the chair selected and announced in December or January.
Sincerely,
Ben
Ben Eggleston
Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs,
College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, University of Kansas
Professor, KU Department of Philosophy
