[Pols-l] external review, and faculty meetings.

Colleagues, welcome to the 2016-17 academic year. A few items to be aware of:

We are heading into our 5 year review period. I haven't been given specific instructions or a timeline yet.

However, the review will include reports generated on the department from PRO.

Please take some time this month to update your PRO file and be prepared to continue updating your file in the coming months.

I will make more details available as I have them but I believe we will need to have 3 external reviewers visit campus during this academic year.

Faculty meetings for the fall: Please reserve Fridays at 11am on your calendar for possible faculty meetings. Of course we won't need all of these slots but please reserve them so that you can use that time for writing etc. if we do not have meetings.

For tenured faculty you can expect a meeting for Yoon's tenure case by late September or early Oct.

We also need to makes some changes to our faculty evaluation plan as requested by the Provost's office.

In short, you can expect 3 to 4 meetings this fall.

We will be holding a series of Brownbags and several speakers will visit this fall and I do hope that you can attend these events. If you have ideas for Brownbags or speakers please let me know.

Finally, with Bejarano on sabbatical this fall Doan will be filling in as UGD. In January Kennedy will take over the UGD spot. In addition, Betty Jo will be retiring in late spring 17 so it's your job to be especially nice to her this year.
