The Office of Graduate Studies is pleased to invite graduate students from all disciplines to apply to participate in the <b>18<sup>th</sup> annual Capitol Graduate Research Summit on February 18, 2021</b>. The event is an opportunity to show Kansas state legislators

 and government officials the impactful research being conducted by graduate students at universities across the state. </p>

Up to eight KU Lawrence students will be selected to join their peers from Kansas State University, The University of Kansas Medical Center, Pittsburg State University, Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, and Wichita State University. Two

 students per university will receive awards sponsored by the participating institutions

<span style="color:#212121">and </span><a href="http://www.biokansas.org/">BioKansas</a><span style="color:#212121">.</span></p>

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the <u>2021 CGRS event will be held virtually</u>. Prior to the event, accepted participants will be required to record a video of their 3-minute research presentation using VidGrid (participants in KU’s 2020 3MT competition will

 find the video guidelines very similar). The videos are submitted <i>after</i> your application is accepted; they are not part of the application itself.</p>

<b>The application for the Research Summit requires:</b></p>

(1) A research abstract of no more than 250 words</p>

(2) An explanation of your research <i>written for</i> <i>general, non-academic audiences

</i>that shows how your research impacts and benefits the state of Kansas (also no more than 250 words)</p>
