<div class="">A Free Solution to GDELT: Retrieving, Cleaning, and Saving Data from the World's Largest Global Event Database </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Abstract: The Global Database of Events Language and Tone, or GDELT for short, is the world's largest database of interactions between global actors. It is currently hosted by Google, and requires the use of their interface, Google BigQuery, in
 order to obtain records, which can be expensive in large quantities. This presentation will highlight an approach that allows access to archived data from GDELT which does not require BigQuery, and only saves the subset of data needed to answer a research
 question.</div>
