Join this hands-on workshop for an exploration on data, ethics, and social justice. Participants will work in teams to analyze and visualize data sets related to political activism in the United States and around the globe. Data sets may draw in geopolitical,
social media, and public data. <b>Sylvia Fernández and Germaine Halegoua</b> are leading this workshop, sponsored by the
<b>Institute for Digital Research on the Humanities</b>.<br>

This series features experts on different aspects of US democracy, and centers opportunities for civic engagement. It is intended to help demystify elements of the systems and processes at work in the US democracy. It is also an opportunity to ask questions
of local experts who study and work in this realm. Programs in this series feature campus resources as well as specialists beyond the University.

In <a href="http://thecommons.ku.edu/event/870">Part II: The Voting Process,</a> presenters will speak on topics that bear relevance to faculty, staff, and students at KU as well as first-time voters. Among the topics they will explore are:<br>

- How can I vote if I’m away from home?<br>
- How can I participate in advance voting?<br>
- What are the important deadlines I need to know?<br>
- What are trends in voter turnout on campuses?<br>
